Giants meet – twice – with DE Carter … For those that haven’t seen this yet, but almost right on cue the NY Giants confirmed that head coach Brian Daboll, who has otherwise kept a relatively low profile during the current pre-draft process, had breakfast with Penn State DE Abdul Carter yesterday morning. As well, the Giants who have the 3rd pick overall in this month’s draft, will have Carter in for a visit at their facility on Thursday. To be honest, we’re not sure we’ve actually ever heard of a head coach simply going to dine with a player on his own like that. Daboll’s visit with Carter yesterday, though, comes less than 48 hours after the Giants, including Daboll, attended the Colorado pro day at which QB Shedeur Sanders had what is being described in some quarters as an ‘underwhelming’ performance. And as we noted yesterday, that appears to have set off a crescendo of whispers around the league that Sanders could slip out of the top 5 picks on the 24th. In that scenario, Cleveland is believed to be likely to take Sanders’ Colorado teammate Travis Hunter with the 2nd pick, leaving the Giants a choice between Sanders and Carter. Had the Giants had that choice a week ago the odds would be something like 99% that they take Sanders, but just like that those odds have swung wildly toward Carter. The only thing we can say for sure at this time, though, is that we’ll really only know for sure on April 24th.
