Funchess injury

March 22, 2015

Michigan WR/TE played hurt … Hard to know what NFL teams are going to make of it, but Michigan TE-turned-WR Devin Funchess has indicated that he played pretty much the entire 2014 season with a toe injury that included torn ligaments and cartilage and a cracked bones. Funchess did catch 62 passes this past season for over 700 yards and 4 scores, but it was still considered to be an off-year as he had switched from playing TE to WR as he struggled with drops. Funchess then had a disappointing combine when he was only able to clock a 4.7 40, although he did reportedly run better at the Michigan pro day. Indeed, Funchess, who entered the season considered to be a potential top 15-20 prospect for this year’s draft, may be fighting just to get a second day call this May, although the fact that he played through the injury will earn him some bonus points with pro teams.
