Friday morning combine notes … The second day of on-field workouts at the scouting combine in Indianapolis get underway later this afternoon (3 PM ET on NFL Network) with the defensive backs and TEs doing their physical testing and positional drills. And under normal circumstances the defensive linemen and LBs, who worked out yesterday would be on their way home, but these aren’t normal times and they’ll be back at it this morning doing the bench press before they can actually leave. it will be interesting to see if any choose not to lift this morning after a very long day yesterday and leave the BP for their pro day later this month … It has been announced that Alabama CB Kool-Aid McKinstry will not workout today as a fracture was discovered in his right foot during this week’s medical testing. Apparently, McKinstry will still work out at the Alabama pro day on March 20th before having the foot repaired, but reportedly will be fine for training camp. Iowa’s Cooper Dejean also won’t work out today as he is still rehabbing from a fractured leg suffered late last season. Dejean also isn’t expected to be ready for the Hawkeyes’ pro day, but does hope to be able to work out privately for NFL teams closer to the draft … The top TE in this year’s draft – Georgia’s Brock Bowers – is at last count still undecided whether to participate in the TE workout later today. Stay tuned … Yet another interesting development with USC QB Caleb Williams, the presumptive #1 pick ahead of the 2024 draft; not only will he not participate in tomorrow’s on-field testing and throwing session, but he has also opted not to undergo the medical testing at the combine. Instead he will do physicals for teams that interview him individually prior to the draft. And Michigan QB JJ McCarthy has indicated that he will still throw tomorrow, but won’t run because of a tight hamstring. Have a great day!
