Free agent signings

Home-cooking dominates first day of tampering period … The NFL’s three-day ‘tampering period’ in which teams can negotiate with players set to become unrestricted free agents in advance of the start of the new football year on Tuesday is now a day old, but most of the action so far has involved teams resigning their own free agents. Green Bay, for example, has reportedly reached an agreement to keep star WR Randall Cobb, New Orleans resigned RB Mark Ingram, Jacksonville reupped DE Tyson Alualu, Dallas resigned RT Doug Free, and Houston resigned both CB Kareem Jackson and RT Derek Newton, while San Diego has reportedly come to terms with CB Brandon Flowers. Needless to say, if any of those players had left via free agency, their team would have had to address the gap with another free agent or draft pick.
