Former OU QB Rattler headed to SEC’s SC

Former OU QB Rattler headed to SEC’s SC; other college moves … Former Oklahoma starting QB Spencer Rattler will be getting to the SEC faster than his former Sooner teammates.  Oklahoma, of course, will be moving to the SEC, along with Texas, at some point in the future, but Rattler will be there next year as he has opted to transfer to South Carolina. It will be the latest move in Rattler’s strange road to what he hopes will ultimatel be an early NFL selection. He entered the season as one of the favorites to be the #1 pick overall at the 2022 draft, but struggled to get the Sooners’ offense going early in the season and had been benched in favor of freshman Caleb Williams by mid-season. Rattler will be joined at South Carolina by junior TE Austin Stogner, who is also headed to the Gamecocks. Elsewhere in the SEC, Arkansas junior C Ricky Stromberg, one of the better players at the position in college football, has reportedly decided to return to school for his senior season. At the same time, Virginia junior QB Brennan Armstrong, the second leading passer in all of college football last year, has indicated that he will not be entering the transfer portal such that if he stays in college it will be with the Cavaliers. However, the 6-2, 215-pound Armstrong who threw for almost 4,500 yards and 31 TDs this fall, has left open the possibility of entering the upcoming NFL draft if he gets a positive grade from the league’s special draft advisory committee.
