Foles to Jags done deal: report

Foles to Jags done deal: report … Multiple sources here and here around the NFL are indicating that Jacksonville will almost assuredly sign former Philadelphia QB Nick Foles when the league’s free agency period begins on March 13th. According to the sources, a market never developed for Foles outside Jacksonville and as a result the two parties team have been working on the parameters of a contract even though the so-called window of opportunity for teams to negotiate with free agents prior to the start of the football year is still several days away. As has been noted previously, if the Jaguars do ultimately sign Foles it would take another QB-needy team out of the market for a top prospect at the position entering the 2019 draft. And certainly Jacksonville would have been expected to be a major, if not THE major team looking at the position come April 25th if they were not to address the position with a veteran free agent like Foles. With both Denver, which acquired former Baltimore QB Joe Flacco last month, and presumably Jacksonville now out of the QB picture, the prime teams still likely to be looking at QBs this spring include the Giants, Miami and Washington, although Oakland could re-enter the picture if they opt to move on from Derek Carr. Its also possible that Cincinnati, which has the 11th pick could also enter the game if the Bengals opt to move on from Andy Dalton. Of course, Arizona could also get back in the picture if the Cardinals figure that they’d be better off going forward with Kyler Murray rather than Josh Rosen whom they traded up for last spring. In fact, there are conflicting stories out there as the combine winds up as to what the Cardinals are thinking. One thread suggests they are enamored with Murray and only need to find a tarding partner for Rosen; however, there are also conflicting rumors which suggest that the Cardinals have pretty much decided to stand pat and will try and build around Rosen who is more of a prototype NFL QB than Murray. Stay tuned!
