Final QB domino falls; ‘Phins name vet Fitzpatrick starter … No big surprise here, but Miami has named veteran Ryan Fiztpatrick as the team’s starter over rookie Tua Tagovailoa, the 5th player selected at the 2020 draft. In fact, just about everybody has now settled on a starter at least to open the season which kicks off later this week. Elsewhere, Justin Herbert, taken by the LA Chargers one pick after the Tagovailoa selection, will also start the season the bench after veteran Tyrod Taylor was named the Chargers’ starter. Mitch Trubisky hung on to his job in Chicago – at least for now – beating out former Eagles’ starter Nick Foles for the job. On theother hand, Washington will go with Dwayne Haskins, the No-names first round pick from the 2019 draft. And, of course, for those who have been in a parallel universe, New England has named Cam Newton to start in play of Tom Brady who’s now in Tampa Bay.
