FCS combine getting underway

FCS combine getting underway … In conjunction with the FCS national championship game in Nashville on Monday evening, the NFL is holding a mini-combine over the next couple of days involving some of the top NFL draft prospects from outside the FBS ranks. Each NFL team was asked to provide a list of 10-15 FCS players they’d like to see more of and the league whittled those lists down to 30 players including Monmouth QB Derek Robertson, Montana WR/RS Michael Wortham, LBs AJ Pena of Rhode Island and Erick Hunter of Morgan State, Southeastern Louisiana DT Kaleb Proctor and CBs Jalen Jones of William&Mary and Jarod Washington of South Carolina State. Illinois State WR Daniel Sobkowski would also have drawn some interest from NFL teams but he’ll be otherwise occupied as he’ll be playing in the FCS title game Monday evening when the Redbirds face Montana State for the divisional championship. Players will be interviewed on Sunday and then Monday morning will go thru some field drills.
