FA Carr meets with Jets, Saints and Panthers … There were reports yesterday that free agent QB Derek Carr had met with several unnamed teams at this week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. This morning it was reported that Carr has met so far with New Orleans, Carolina and the NY Jets. What’s interesting about that is that the Saints and Jets were the two teams he also met with prior to this week, which suggests real interest on their part. In fact, the smart money around the NFL is betting that Carr ends up with the Jets if the New Yorkers can’t land enigmatic Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers. Its also interesting that Carolina has met with Carr. He remains a longshot there as the Panthers have indicated that they would like to get a QB in the draft, but right now it appears that Carolina could have to trade up into the top 5 to get one of the four top QB prospects. Meanwhile, its now been a week since Rodgers emerged from his self-imposed two-day exile in the darkness to consider his options, but still nary a word on what are his plans. Which is kind of holding everything else up. Stay tuned!
