Dynamic NIU edge rusher Smith enters draft … No surprise here, but just hours after his team’s bowl game, Northern Illinois junior DE Sutton Smith announced that he will be entering the draft. Smith is an odd size at just 6-0, 240 and likely will have to find a niche as a 3-4 edge rusher at the next level, but there is no disputing the fact that he’s been one of the most disruptive defenders in college football over the past couple of years during which time he rang up 29 sacks, including 15 this fall, along with 26 other tackles for loss, 7 forced fumbles and a couple of blocked kicks. Assuming he runs well at the combine, Sutton figures to be in the late second third early day discussion this coming April.
