Deadline day for underclassmen … Today is the final day for underclassmen to file paperwork with the NFL to be included in the 2015 draft. So far, by our unofficial count close to 80 juniors and redshirt sophomores have indicated in one way or another that they will be entering this year’s draft. In fact, almost all the big-name underclassmen have already made their intentions known. Indeed, about the only real drama today maybe whether Ohio State sophomore QB Cardale Jones decides to throw his hat into the ring after leading the Buckeyes to the national championship earlier this week, while the NFL is also waiting for word from a trio of Alabama defenders including DT Jarran Reed and LBs Reggie Ragland and Denziel Duvall. It is also likely, though, that other lesser-known names of players who just don’t like school and want to move for one reason or another will be added to the list, although at this time it doesn’t appear likely that last year’s record of over 100 underclassmen entering the draft will be broken this year. It will be several days, though, before the NFL releases the full list of underclassmen eligible for the 2015 draft as those that have applied will have a 72-hour window of opportunity to withdraw their applications, if they have not signed with an agent or received any benefits, once today’s application deadline has passed.
