Dorsey out as Browns’ G.M. … What is the old saying: the more things change the more they stay the same! Seems to be the case in Cleveland where the Browns will be starting over all over again with news that John Dorsey is out as general manager. Dorsey was told earlier today during a meeting with Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslam that the team was willing to keep him around, but only in a restructured front office in which he would have less authority. The Browns, of course, fired head coach Freddie Kitchens yesterday after Cleveland finished with a disappointing 6-10 record. In fact, since Haslam bought the team in 2012, only one coach or G.M. has lasted more than two years, and that was Hue Jackson, who had one of the worst coaching records in NFL history before he was fired midway through his third season last year. No word yet on how either Dorsey or Kitchens will be replaced; indeed, its not totally clear whether anyone of repute would want the job. Baylor head coach Matt Ruhle, THE hot coaching candidate this off-season, for example, declined the opportunity to interview with the Browns. Stay tuned.
