More details on Browns-Pats trade for LB Collins … Several astute readers pointed out that Cleveland could not have offered to send a 4th round pick to New England in return for OLB Jamie Collins as was reported earlier this afternoon because the Browns had already included that pick as part of the 2016 draft trade in that blockbuster deal with Philadelphia in which the Eagles got the 2nd pick overall and ultimately QB Carson Wentz. Indeed, sources in both New England and Cleveland are confirming that the Patriots will actually get a 4th round pick in 2018 if the Browns don’t end up with a 3rd round compensatory pick this year. However, the odds are pretty good that Cleveland will ultimately get a comp pick that early after they lost a number of veteran free agents this past off-season including C Alex Mack who signed a huge deal with Atlanta.
