Cowboys first to sign all picks … Dallas became the first team to sign its full 2023 draft class earlier today when the Cowboys announced they had come to terms with all 8 players selected at last month’s draft. That included former Michigan DT Mazi Smith, the Cowboys’ #1 pick who agreed to a 4Y, $13.3M deal with half coming in the form of a signing bonus. Smith, in fact, was just one of three 2023 first rounders to come to terms today as Atlanta signed RB Bijan Robinson, the 8th player selected this year and the highest to sign to date, to a 4Y, $22M deal that is fully guaranteed. At the same time, Seattle signed WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the 20th player taken this year and the second of two Seahawks’ #1s, to an as yet undisclosed deal. Those three first round signings bring to 4 the number of opening round picks to have agreed to contract terms already joining DT Jalen Carter who signed with the Eagles last week. And speaking of Carter, it was revealed earlier today that he was driving on a suspended license the night that two people were killed in a car accident in which he was involved in January. Carter plead no contest to charges of racing and reckless driving in the incident for which he is currently on probation. Carter’s license had been suspended when he failed to complete a driver ed program after he had been hit with an earlier speeding ticket. However, Carter will not face any additional legal action because of the suspension.
