Comp picks announced … The NFL has just released the compensatory picks that have been awarded for the 2024 draft. A total of 32 new comp picks were awarded to 14 teams. Leading the way are the LA Rams, San Francisco and Philadelphia each of which received the maximum number of 4 picks awarded for their net loss of 2023 free agents. However, both the Rams and 49ers actually have 5 comp picks this year because both had previously earned 3rd round comps as part of the NFL’s initiative to improve minority hiring at the GM and head coach level; however, the 49ers 3rd round comp pick (#99) actually belongs to Washington which acquired it in an earlier deal with the 49ers. At the same time, New Orleans, Green Bay and the NY Jets get three comp picks apiece, while Jacksonville, Dallas and Cincinnati get two each and Buffalo, Baltimore, Kansas City, Tampa Bay and the LA Chargers get one apiece. Note though that Jacksonville actually gets the earliest comp pick this year, the 96th overall, while Philadelphia gets the only other new 3rd round pick, #97.
