Combine finally hits the field

March 2, 2022

Combine finally hits the field … The scouting combine in Indianapolis will really start to heat up tomorrow when the first group, including the QBs, WRs and TEs will be on the field for their physical testing and on-field drills which get underway around 4 PM ET and will be covered by the NFL Network. However, before they actually get to the field the players will be weighed and measured and they’ll also be asked to do the bench press. In fact, the most eagerly anticipated question of this year’s draft class should finally be answered when we find out how big (or how small) are Pitt QB Kenny Pickett’s hands. And if that sounds like Greek, figure you’re probably in the wrong place! Of course, not everyone will do the whole gamut tomorrow. Some players have said that if the BP was still on the same day as the physical testing, and especially the 40, they might wait until their pro day to their lifting. It is also likely that more than one player will choose not to run tomorrow. We particularly interested to see if USC WR Drake London, one of the top 2-3 prospects at the position, will opt to run this week after missing the final month of the regular season with a fractured foot. That said, don’t be surprised if a track meet breaks when the WRs do run as there are several guys with elite speed including Calvin Austin of Memphis, Skyy Moore of Western Michigan and Penn State’s Jahan Dotson among others. Meanwhile, the offensive linemen and RBs, who take to the field on Friday, will meet with the NFLPA tomorrow and also do media interviews, while the defensive linemen and LBs will go thru registration and orientation.
