College QBs in court … A couple of SEC QBs looking for an extra year of eligibility have shifted their appeals to the courts after failing to get any relief from the NCAA. Mississippi’s Trinidad Chambliss, for example, has filed an injunction in state court after the NCAA has denied his appeal for a 6th-year eligibility waiver. The waiver, which was denied by the NCAA athletics’ eligibility subcommittee, was for a medical redshirt stemming from the 2022 season in which Chambliss did not play while at Ferris State. He claimed it was for medical reasons, but the NCAA ruled their was insufficient proof of a medical condition. Chambliss will reportedly have a hearing in state court next week. If he fails to get an injunction, Chambliss is expected to be one of the top 3-4 QB selected at the upcoming NFL draft.
At the same time, Tennessee QB Joey Aquilar has been granted a temporary restraining order by a state court in his lawsuit against the NCAA seeking an extra year of eligibility. Aguilar filed the suit last week after the NCAA denied his appeal to be allowed a 4th year of DI football rather than having the years he spent in junior college count against his eligibility.
