College playoff

December 6, 2015

College playoffs look to be set as favorites hold serve … For those that hit the hay early last night, there were no upsets in the major college conference championship games meaning that unless the playoff selection committee throws a curve ball Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan State will be the 4 teams in this year’s college semi-finals. Clemson held off North Carolina 45-37 in a wild ACC title game, while Alabama throttled Florida 29-15 to win the SEC champions and Michigan State took the Big Ten title with a dramatic 22-play drive that resulted in a game-winning TD with less than 30 seconds to play to edge upstart Iowa 16-13. And if the current rankings are any guide, the two national semi-final games should have Clemson playing Michigan State in one and Alabama and Oklahoma in the other, although personally, we’d love to see them jigger the rankings so Alabama and Oklahoma could meet in the final. The two semi-final games are scheduled to be played in the Orange and Cotton Bowls on New Year’s Eve and the match-ups are scheduled to be announced later this evening.
