College notes … With the 2016 draft looming we have been a tad remiss in keeping up with developments affecting next year’s draft class. among stories that have crossed the collegiate wire over the past week or so, oft-injured Arkansas RB Kody Walker, who was expected to be the Hogs’ starter this coming season, will miss the rest of spring practice after suffering a broken foot that required surgery. The 240-pound Walker was granted a 6th year by the NCAA after he was forced to sit out the 2011 and 2102 seasons with leg injuries. However, Walker is expected to be 100% by the start of fall training camp … Notre Dame WR Corey Robinson is contemplating retirement because of multipl concussions. Robinson, the son of former Navy and NBA basketball star David Robinson, reportedly underwent a private medical evaluation last week and is awaiting results. The rangy 6-5 Robinson had the look of a future pro early in his ND career, but slumped badly last fall … West Virginia PK Josh Lambert, one of the better kickers scheduled to be in the 2017 draft class, will miss the first three games of the season because he violated Big 12 Conference eligibility rules … And it hasn’t been a great spring to be a receiver named Fred at Mississippi State. Senior WR Fred Brown has reportedly been kicked out of school for violating State’s student honor code which primarily deals with academic matters. Brown had been expected to take on a bigger load with MSU this fall after catching 27 passes last season. Meanwhile, fellow WR Fred Ross is out for the spring after undergoing surgery for a groin injury; Ross was the SEC’s second-leading receiver in 2015 with 88 total catches.
