College injury notes: Young, Carter, Bresee … It’s never a particularly good week in college football when three of the top 6 or so prospects for the upcoming draft are sidelined with some kind of health issue. And we were hoping to get some kind of update on the situation for Alabama QB Bryce Young, Georgia Jalen Carter and Clemson DT Bryan Bressee, but so far there really isn’t much to report. Alabama, though, has pretty much confirmed that Young, the reigning Heisman holder and one of the top 2-3 QB prospects for 2023, suffered a sprained AC joing in his throwing shoulder. Alabama head coach Nick Saban described the injury as a ‘little’ sprain and doesn’t believe its serious, but didn’t give a timeline for Young’s return. However, for the record, other players with a similar injury have taken any where from 2 to 6 weeks to get back to 100% depending on the severity of the sprain. At the same time, Carter, who is currently the #3 overall prospect for 2023 on the GBN Big Board, could also miss some times after he suffered what is believed to be a sprained MCL in the Bulldogs come from behind win over pesky Missouri on Saturday evening. On the other hand, Bresee – #6 on the Big Board – did not play at all in Saturday’s win over 10th ranked NC State after spending the week being evaluated for what is being reported as a non-football kidney problem. Reportedly, all the test appear to have come back negative, but it is something the Bresee family really didn’t need after one his sister’s tragically passed away from cancer just a couple of weeks ago. Stay tuned for updates.
