College football preview

August 29, 2019

GBN college football preview … Are you ready for some football!!! You’d better be because the first weekend of the college football schedule gets underway later this evening. Unlike the recent past, though, when college football’s opening weekend was dotted with some intriguing games with national implications, there is in fact only one contest this weekend involving two top 25 teams. That comes up Saturday evening when #11 Oregon plays at #16 Auburn. We’ll have a preview of who to watch in that game tomorrow. Meanwhile, just about every other top program opens their season with something of a cupcake.  Of course, that’ll change before we get too deep into the schedule in what promises to be a most interesting season heading toward the national semi-finals on December 28th and the national championship game two weeks later in New Orleans. And like the rest of the college football punditry across the country, the GBN Senior Staff are pretty much in agreement that, everything else being equal, it should be Alabama and Clemson – AGAIN – in this year’s national championship game. Indeed, here are the pre-season college predictions by Pigskin Paul Guillemette, Larry Parker and Grumpy Lindsay, as well as their pre-season All-America picks.
