CMU off to Sun; Arizona game off in latest bowl scrambling … Just a quick update on that report earlier tonight about Covid continuing to play havoc with the bowl schedule. It has now been confirmed that Central Michigan will play Washington State in Friday’s Sun Bowl. CMU had been scheduled to play Boise State in the Arizona Bowl, but the Broncos had to withdraw because of roster issues caused by the epidemic. At the same time, the Sun Bowl was looking for someone to play WSU in the Sun Bowl to replace Miami which also had to withdraw last week because of Covid concerns. It means, though, that at least for this year, the Arizona Bowl will not be played, although its likely that college football will survive without a few less bowls this year. And we are kind of pleased that CMU did find a home because one of the players we most wanted to see in the non-playoff bowls was Chippewas senior LT Bernhard Raimann who has made a big jump up draft boards across the NFL in recent weeks.
