Clock ticking on college prospects

January 4, 2021

Clock ticking on college prospects … College players thinking of entering the 2021 draft – or not – have just two weeks until the January 18th deadline to apply for the 2021 draft if they need to. Among announcements over the past day or so, Texas QB Sam Ehlinger has confirmed that he will be entering the draft. Ehlinger, a 4-year starter with the Longhorns, is a senior but had been considering whether to take advantage of the NCAA’s special one-year eligibility waiver and returning to Austin for a 5th year. Same story at LSU where both DT Neil Farrell and DE Andre Anthony, two of the Tigers top senior defensive linemen, have opted to return to school for an extra year. On the other hand, Notre Dame junior OG Aaron Banks, who likely would have kicked outside to LT next fall, has announced that he will be entering the draft where he is considered to be a possible late second-day candidate.
