Draft lite tonight up north … The CFL holds its annual draft of Canadian born players later this evening beginning at 8 PM ET. Hamilton holds the first pick overall after swinging a deal yesterday with Montreal in which the two teams flipped the 1st and 2nd picks. Montreal now will pick second, followed by British Columbia, which also holds the 7th pick in the opening round. The leading candidates for the top pick evening are UConn OT Trey Rutherford and Central Michigan WR Mark Chapman. The CFL draft will be carried on TSN in Canada; picks can be tracked on the CFL website. One small note on the Hamilton-Montreal trade for the top pick; part of the reported package were the negotiation rights to an American QB. That opened some eyes because Hamilton owns the CFL negotiating rights for Johnny Manziel, however, it appears he was not the player involved. Rather it looks to be QB Alex Tanney who was just signed by the Giants in the NFL.
