‘Cats, Huskers duel in Dublin

‘Cats, Huskers duel in Dublin … The college football season doesn’t really kick off until next weekend, but there are a handful of games this week including a potentially interesting Big Ten match-up between Nebraska and Northwestern Saturday afternoon in Dublin with KO set for 12:30 PM ET on Fox. And what makes this game especially potentially interesting will be the chance to checkout star Northwestern OT Peter Skoronski (#77, 6-4, 315), one of the top 2-3 prospects at the position for the 2023 draft. Skoronski isn’t necessarily all that tall or long, but he is a master technician with great feet and a better motor. Skoronski, though, is likely the only top 100 type prospect in this game, although the Huskers have several solid third-day candidates including DE Ochaun Mathis (#32, 6-5, 260), a TCU transfer who averaged almost a sack per game two years ago, LB Luke Reimer (#28, 6-1, 225), who had 100-plus tackles last fall, and WR Trey Palmer (#3, 6-1, 190), an LSU transfer who has yet to put big numbers as a receiver, but is one of the better return guys in college football. Whether the Huskers can inch back toward the elite ranks of college football, though, may come down to how quickly dual-threat QB Casey Thompson (#11, 6-0, 195), who at this time last year was the starter at Texas, adapts to the Nebraska offense. Meanwhile, the other Wildcat to watch is DE Adetomiwa Adebawore (#99, 6-2, 280).
