Canes’ Ward, LSU’s Nussmeier to play in bowls; Aggie DL to pros … There are several notes from college football this day including the fact that Miami QB Cam Ward confirmed on social media last evening that he will in fact play in the Hurricanes Pop-tarts Bowl matchup with Iowa State on December 28th. That means that both of this year’s top two QB prospects will be playing in their team’s bowl despite the fact that they didn’t qualify for the 12-team CFP playoff field, as Deion Sanders has confirmed that son Shedeur will also be in uniform when the Buffs play BYU in the Alamo Bowl that same day. It also appears that LSU junior QB Garrett Nussmeier, who has yet to declare for the draft, will play when the Tigers face Baylor in the Texas Bowl, also on the 28th. The fact that Nussmeier, who could end up being the 3rd or 4th rated QB for 2025 if he does turn pro this winter, has opted to play in the bowl has led to some speculation that he might opt to return to school next fall, but right now it appears to be just: speculation … One junior who has declared for the draft is Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Stewart. He’s a 6-5, 290-pound 3rd year junior who could looks from the pros as either a regular DT or a 5-tech DE, although he has never produced much in the way of a pass rush as he posted just 4.5 sacks in his 3 seasons at A&M.
