Cane RB to enter draft

November 28, 2016

Cane RB to enter draft … There is nothing official; yet from the school or the player but it appears that Miami junior RB Joe Yearby will be entering this year’s draft after he posted a note on his social media page following the Hurricanes’ win over Duke on Saturday that this was ‘his last home game as a Cane.’ The post has reportedly since been deleted, but sources close to Yearby indicate he has been unhappy with his diminished playing time this fall which has seen him drop to 3rd on the Canes’ depth chart. Indeed, Yearby ran for over 1,000 yards as a sophomore last season, but has only 600 this fall, although he did average a solid 6.0 yards per carry this year.  Yearby is a slasher listed at 5-9, 210, but he lacks elite speed and as such probably won’t rate as more than a late round or free agent type prospect. Meanwhile, Miami junior QB Brad Kaaya and redshirt sophomore TE David Njoku, who are both really good prospects, both say they are undecided on their plans for the 2017 draft.
