BYU RB to sit out year

August 6, 2015

BYU RB to sit upcoming season … BYU RB Jamaal Williams, who had been considered to be an emerging second-tier prospect for the 2016 draft, has announced that he will not play this coming season for what is being described as personal reasons and instead will return to play in 2016. According to a local report, though, Williams violated unspecified team rules – most likely some kind of violation of the school’s very strict honor code which does not permit the consumption of alcohol or pre-marital sexual encounters – and had been told he could either be suspended indefinitely or withdraw from school. The whole business could be a bit of a blessing in disguise for the 6-0, 210-pound Williams who needs less than 1,000 yards to become the school’s all-time rushing leader as he suffered a serous knee injury last last fall and could benefit from having a full year to recover.
