Buffs’ two-way star Hunter wins Heisman … To no one’s great surprise star Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter was named this year’s Heisman Trophy winner earlier this evening in New York. Hunter, who made All-America teams at both positions this fall edged out dynamic Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty in a surprisingly close vote for the award. Indeed, it was the closest vote in the past 15 years. Meanwhile, QBs Dillon Gabriel of Oregon and Miami’s Cam Ward finished 3rd and 4th respectively. For the record, Hunter is also generally considered to be the #1 prospect overall for the 2025 draft; however, it is possibly going to be an interesting debate. No question that Hunter is the best player in college football, but it is not as clear whether he will in fact be thought of as worthy of the top pick at either position and its unlikely that he’ll play both at the next level. Stay tuned!
