Wither OSU QB after championship win … There is a bit of a buzz around the NFL that sophomore Ohio State QB Cardale Jones could actually be seriously thinking about entering the 2015 draft after leading the Buckeyes’ to last night’s resounding 42-20 win over Oregon for the national championship. Jones, who would be draft-eligible because he redshirted his first year in Columbus, completed 16 of 23 pass attempts for 242 yards and a score, while running for another in the win over the Ducks. In one sense, it would be an odd decision for Jones as he has only started three games in his career to date, although they were on the biggest stages in college football as he led the Buckeyes to wins over Wisconsin in the Big Ten conference championship game, as well as against Alabama and Oregon in the national playoffs. At the same time, though, Jones would have to battle J.T. Barrett for the starting job if he did return to Ohio State next fall and the latter would actually be the favorite to earn the job. Plus its known that Jones, who is not believed to be in the running to be named ‘rocket scientist of the year’, is no great fan of college life, in particular, the somewhat peculiar expectation that university students should actually have to go to class and stuff! Stay tuned as underclassmen have only until Thursday to file paperwork with the NFL to be eligible for this year’s draft.
