Browns sign Bowe

March 19, 2015

Browns sign top vet FA receiver … Cleveland has reportedly come to terms with veteran WR Dwayne Bowe, one of the top free agents on the market this year. The 30-year-old Bowe, who spent 8 years in Kansas City, was released by the Chiefs this off-season in a cap savings move after he caught 60 passes last fall, although none was for a TD. Bowe will join former Miami WR Brian Hartline who signed with the Browns last fall. They will replace WR Josh Gordon, will miss the 2015 season while he serves a suspension for violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy. The Browns had been expected to use at least one of their opening round picks, either the 12th or 19th selections, on a WR – and they still may – but the signing of Bowe may be free them up to look at other positions.
