Browns re-up DE Garrett; turn focus to QB … We have to assume that anybody checking things out on this site has certainly heard the Cleveland was able to resign star DE Myles Garrett to a record-setting contract extension earlier today. There had been speculation earlier that the Browns might just let Garrett walk and grab Penn State DE Q Abdul Carter with the 2nd pick overall in next month’s draft to fill the gap. However, that would now appear to be largely off the table, although it is still conceivable that the Browns might still take Carter to pair with Garrett. Just about everything we are picking up coming out of Cleveland, though, suggests the Browns’ focus, even before the Garrett news was announced, was centered on finding what just about everyone in and around the organization is calling a bridge QB. and since NFL teams don’t usually talk about bridge QBs to nowhere, what we are also picking up is that the Browns are very much looking at taking one of the top QBs – either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders – with that #2 pick, because its what NFL teams do in the circumstances the Browns find themselves at the position. Stay tuned, though, cause we still have 46 days to go until the draft!
