Browns meeting with QB Watson … A full contingent of senior execs from Cleveland are in Houston for a meeting this afternoon with Texans’ QB Deshaun Watson. Watson also reportedly met with both Carolina and New Orleans last evening. All three teams are reportedly willing to part with at least the three first round picks that the Texans are requesting along with other considerations. Indeed, the Browns could be a most attractive trading partner for the Texans as they are reportedly willing to include Baker Mayfield as part of the deal. In the end, though, the decision still is controlled by Watson as he has a no-trade contract. Meanwhile, there were reports earlier today that Atlanta might also want to get into the mix for Watson, although it is hard to imagine how they would be able to fit the latter’s contract to an already messy salary cap situation for the Falcons after they just extended Matt Ryan. In fact, there is some speculation that Atlanta may simply be trying to up the ante for Carolina and New Orleans, the two NFC South teams that would appear to be better positioned to land Watson than the Falcons. Stay tuned as it appears that this situation could be resolved fairly quickly once the new football year starts tomorrow.
