Browns easiest path to #1 pick

Browns easiest path to #1 pick … Was chatting with a couple of other draft watchers earlier in the week and none of us could remember a time when the draft order changed so dramatically in just one week, especially this late in the season. And with 5 teams with just 2 wins to date this fall and another 6 with three wins, its very likely that will be further upheavals over the course of the final two months of the season. It also pretty much goes without saying that trying to predict which teams will win which games is kind of like herding cats as there are just so many vagaries in the NFL including injuries, turnovers and weekly swings in emotion and momentum. That said, though, at least based on the remaining schedule, Cleveland would appear to have the easiest path to the top pick. Of the Browns’ remaining 8 games, 5 are against teams that would currently be in the playoffs including their home-and-home series against division-rival Pittsburgh as well as their road game at Baltimore and a home date with undefeated Kansas City. The Browns do have a couple of games with other 2-3 win teams including this coming Sunday in New Orleans, but their other ‘easy’ game is against 3-7 Miami which may not be a true 3-win team with Tua Tagavailoa back at QB. On the other hand, Jacksonville, which is currently sitting on the #1 pick, has the easiest remaining schedule of the two-win teams as they play only only 2 playoff teams versus 4 games against 2-3 win teams including their home-and-home dates with Tennessee, another 2-win team. Once done with the Jags, though, Tennessee still has to play 4 playoff teams, as does Las Vegas, while the Giants are sort of in the middle with 3 remaining games against playoff teams. One other team to watch regarding the schedule is 3-win New Orleans which plays three of the 5 two-win teams over the final two months including Cleveland, Las Vegas and the Giants.
