Big uglies are big!! … The offensive linemen are starting to warm-up for their on-field physical testing and positional drills, but even before they hit the track we can say it one big group. Indeed, it was if they held a combine weigh-in session for the OL and a basketball game broke out. Indeed, more than a half dozen OTs, for example, measured in at essentially 6-8 or better including Notre Dame’s the consensus #1 tackle this year who came in at 6-8.5, 321 with 34-inch arms. In fact, just about all the OT prospects were able to check off all the required boxes at the measurement session. Georgia’s Amarius Mims was particularly impressive at 6-7.5, 340 with 36″ arms while Penn State’s Olu Fashanu measured in at 6-6, 312 with 34″ arms; Tyler Guyton of Oklahoma was 6-7.5, 322 with 34″ arms, JC Latham of Alabama was 6-5, 342 with 35″ arms; Javon Foster of Missouri was 6-5.5, 313 with 34.5″ arms; and Christian Jones of Texas was 6-5, 305 with 34.5″ arms. Taliese Fuaga of Oregon State also looked the part of a top 10-15 prospect as he measured in at 6-5.5, 324, but his arms were only 33″ long, the low end for a top OT; same for Arizona’s Jordan Morgan who came in at 6-5, 311 but with sub-33″ arms. Note that both Fuaga and Morgan do have really big hands which helps. A couple of other less well-known OTs also wowed at the weigh-in including Yale’s Kiran Amegadjie, the top Ivy league prospect for the upcoming draft who measured in at 6-5, 323, but with 36″ arms which give him a huge 85-inch plus wingspan. Same for Anim Dankwah of Howard who also has a wingspan over 85″. Meanwhile, one note about the other OL at the combine: star Washington OT Troy Fautanu measured in at under 6-4 meaning which likely will confirm to alot of teams that he may be best suited to OG at the next level, although he does have 34.5″ arms. On the other two of the top OGs in the 2024 draft field – Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe and Tanor Bortolini of Wisconsin both have relatively short arms at 31.5″.
