Big changes coming to college football in 2024 … For those that haven’t seen it yet, the CFP playoff committee has announced the schedule for the first 12-team playoff at the end of the 2024 college season. There will be four on-campus first round games just before Christmas with the four quarte-final games set for December 31st and January 1st. In fact, New Year’s Day will finally be for college football again as there will be three QF games that day in the Peach, Rose and Sugar Bowls. The semis will be played the following week in the Orange and Cotton bowls with the natioal championship game scheduled for Atlanta on January 20th. And if either Oklahoma or Texas are to qualify for the revamped playoff structure in 2024 they will have to do it out of the SEC as the conference has confirmed that the two storied programs will be moving to the SEC beginning July 1st, 2024. The Sooners and Longhorns will play this fall in the newly expanded Big XII conference before making the big move to the SEC next year.
