Bears trade LB Smith to Ravens for picks … With the NFL’s trade deadline looming in just over 24 hours, Chicago and Bltimore have pulled off a mini-blockbuster of sorts with the Bears sending star MLB Roquan Smith to the Ravens in exchange for 2nd and 5th round picks at the 2023 draft. Smith had requested a trade during training camp when he and the team could not agree on a contract extension. Smith, whom the Bears selected with the 8th overall pick at the 2018 draft, currently leads the NFL with 83 tackles. Update: The Ravens also reportedly included journeyman LB AJ Klein in the deal along with the two picks. Klein, who the Ravens signed off the Giants practice squad earlier this month, was likely to be the player Baltimore released to make room for Smith.
