Bears QB out extended period … Numerous media sources, including both NFL.com and ESPN are reporting at this hour that Chicago is preparing for QB Jay Cutler to be out ‘an extended period’ as a result of the thumb injury he suffered in last night’s loss to Philadelphia. The team and Cutler are now reportedly trying to decide whether surgery is the best course of action. With Cutler sidelined, the Bears will hand the ball to veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer.
