Baylor BB star works out …. As many as 24 teams had reps at a private workout in New Orleans yesterday for former Baylor power forward Rico Gathers who wants a shot at playing TE in the NFL. According to report by NFL.com analyst Ian Rapoport, Gathers measured in at the 6-6, 273, which is actually a little smaller than expected and ran the 40-yard dash in the “neighborhood” of 4.75 to 4.85 seconds. Unfortunately, that range doesn’t tell a lot as 4.75, which would have been the 7th fastest time among TEs at the combine, is probably an acceptable time for a pure receiver that size, but 4.85 may give some teams pause as it really isn’t at all fast.
