As the QB turns … A couple of QB announcements from around the NFL that could impact the selection order of the 2019 draft. Cleveland has confirmed that Baker Mayfield will take over full-time as the team’s starter. Mayfield replaced an ineffective Tyrod Taylor and led the Browns to their first win in almost two years on Thursday night against the NY Jets. The win lifted the Browns record to 1-1-1 and best of the early returns, it appears that Cleveland could avoid yet another really high pick at the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, the worst fears were confirmed in San Francisco as the 49ers officially announced that QB Jimmy Garoppolo did indeed tear an ACL in yesterday’s loss to Kansas and will miss the rest of the year. And with journeyman C J Beathard as the next in line for the 49ers, it could be a long year in San Francisco, which thought they had stabilized the position with the trade for Garoppolo last year.
