Article on J T Daniels

Could UGA QB Daniels be thinking draft … Just what the 2021 draft needs is another potential first-round QB, but there is an interesting story out of Georgia that suggests that redshirt sophomore QB J.T. Daniels might be seriously thinking about entering the upcoming draft. To which a lot of people might ask: Is he even still playing? To recap, Daniels had all the look of a future #1 pick when he started as a true freshman at Southern California several years back, but saw his career come crashing down after he suffered a devastating knee injury in the season-opener the following year. He eventually transferred to Georgia when it became apparent that USC was going in another direction at the position. However, Daniels stayed on the bench with the Dawgs for most of this season even though he had been cleared to play several months ago. With three weeks to go in a somewhat lackluster campaign, Daniels got the call, and he has been lights out ever since. In three games – all Georgia wins – Daniels has completed 67% of his pass attempts for 280 yards per game and 9 scores against only one pick. And the draft buzz comes in part because Daniels made it pretty clear during his freshman year that he had planned to be in the NFL after 3 years of college. GBN Chief Scout Larry Parker and his people are already thinking of Daniels as being at least a late-first round prospect with the physical tools to go higher, although the long-term impact of the knee remains an issue.
