And then there were 6

September 23, 2019

And then there were 6 … With the third week of the NFL schedule in the books the number of remaining totally winless teams through the first three weeks of the season is down to 6. The half dozen teams at 0-3 include Miami, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Denver, Washington and the NY Jets. Arizona is also technically winless, but are 0-2-1 after playing to a tie with Detroit in their opener. Of course, most analysts figure that Miami is the clear favorite to end up with the #1 pick at the upcoming draft after the Dolphins lost their first three games by an average of 39 points. However, while its still a little early to start posting the ‘if the draft were held today’ selection order for the upcoming draft, Miami would only have the third pick behind the Jets (.458) and Cincinnati (.469) which have the weakest strength of schedule figures of the 6 teams. Miami is third at .479, while Pittsburgh is 4th at .490. On the other hand, both Denver and Washington have a .615 SOS figure. Meanwhile, among the 10 teams with 1-2 records, Cleveland and Jacksonville have by far the weakest strength of schedule numbers. For the record, we will try and post the intitial updated selection order in a couple of weeks.
