Star FCS QB joins Ducks … Eastern Washington QB Vernon Adams has confirmed that he will be transferring to Oregon where he hopes to replace 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota as the Ducks’ starter this coming season. Adams, the runner-up for the Walter Payton Award, the FCS equivalent of the Heisman, in each of the past two seasons, was given his release by EWU late last month in order to try and find an opportunity to complete his career at the FBS level and will be eligible immediately because he has already graduated. Adams also reportedly got some interest from several other programs including UCLA and Texas. At barely 6-feet and 190 pounds Adams is not considered to be a prime pro prospect, although given the recent success of Russell Wilson at Seattle nobody is writing him off just yet, but was very productive at EWU where he threw for over 10,000 yards and 110 TDs in his 3-year career, while he also ran for over 1,200 yards. This past season he was the leading passer in FCS football as he completed 66% of his passes for 348 yards per game and 35 TDs while tossing 8 picks.
