#15 PITTSBURGH (10-2) vs #16 WAKE FOREST (10-2); 8 PM ET; ABC; Charlotte … Hands up everyone who had Wake Forest and Pitt in the ACC championship game in their pre-season pool. Unfortunately, both teams have a couple of losses, so the winner won’t be playing in the CFP. However, this is still a potentially fascinating game as it features two of the best QBs in college in Pitt’s Kenny Picket (#8, 6-3, 220) and Wake redshirt sophomore QB Sam Hartman (#10, 6-1, 220), both of whom should be in the Heisman mix over the next week or so. Pickett, in particular, blossomed this year from a prototype journeyman type into a legit top 10-15 draft prospect as he threw for just over 4,000 yards and 40 TDs, along the way completing 68% of his passes with just 7 picks. For his part, Hartman is far less likely to enter this year’s draft, but is just a good all-around college QB who can hurt you with both his arm and legs.
For good measure, this game also features three of the best young receivers in the country in Wake Forest redshirt sophomore A.T. Perry (#9, 6-4, 210) and junior Jaquaril Roberson (#5, 6-0, 185) and Pitt sophomore Jordan Addison (#3, 6-0, 175). Perry and Roberson are both big play types who were both 1,000 yard receivers this fall, while Addison had a true breakout year in which he had 85 receptions for over 1,300 and an FBS leading 17 TDs. However, other than Pitt’s Pickett neither program is likely to have anyone selected all that early this coming April, although both do have several later round or free agent types including OT Carter Warren (#77, 6-5, 315), CB Damarri Mathis (#21, 5-11, 195), TE Lucas Krull (#7, 6-6, 260), DE Deslin Alexandre (#5, 6-4, 285), and OG Marcus Minor (#55, 6-3, 325) of Pitt and DT Miles Fox (#11, 6-1, 300), S Traveon Redd (#17, 6-0, 205), TE Brandon Chapman (#23, 6-5, 245), LB Luke Masterton (#12, 6-2, 230), CB Ja’sir Taylor (#6, 5-10, 185) and PK Nick Sciba (#4, 5-9, 195) of Wake.
