QBs struggle in Senior Bowl game

QBs struggle in Senior Bowl game … We noted in our Senior Bowl practice review yesterday evening that it felt that the QBs in Mobile this week were almost an afterthought. And unfortunately that didn’t change much at all in the actual game this afternoon. Indeed, the only passer today who looked even remotely like more than a fringe prospect was LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier and even he looked to be no more than an efficient game manager. Nussmeier clearly reads the field well, has a quick release and can find the open receiver, but just doesn’t have much in the way of elite arm strength. On the other hand, Illinois’ Luke Altmyer showed something of a live arm with a quick release of his own, but appeared to be somewhat indecisive getting rid of the ball. Meanwhile, each of the other four – Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia, Cole Payton of FCS North Dakota State, Sawyer Robertson of Baylor and Arkansas’ Taylen Green – looked like solid enough college QBs who will get the ball where it is supposed to go most of the time, but need a little time and space to step up into throws, while Payton, in particular, appeared to have a somewhat slow, elongated release.
