Ten teams play tag with franchise/transitions designations … It turned out to be an eventful tag day in the NFL yesterday as a totalof nine players were tagged with the franchise designation while another was hit a transition tag. The nine players franchised include Denver DE Von Miller, Washington QB Kirk Cousins, LA Rams CB Trumaine Johnson, Carolina CB Josh Norman, New York Jets DT Mo Wilkerson, Chicago WR Alshon Jeffrey, Buffalo OT Cordy Glenn, Kansas City FS Eric Berry and Baltimore PK Justin Tucker. Meanwhile, Miami designated DE Olivier vernon as a transition player meaning the Dolphins can match any offer he would receive on the free agent market but would get no compensation if they did not match. From a purely draft perspective the most interesting personnel move yesterday saw Philadelphia resign QB Sam Bradford to a 2-year deal. The Eagles had been considered one of the teams likely to be in the market to trade up in this year’s opening round if they had not been able to re-up Bradford.
