Bowl season continues … There are three more games on today’s college football bowl schedule including both the non-playoff former BCS games. Truth be told, though, there won’t be much front-line talent on the field in any of the New Year’s Eve games, although there are a number of solid depth prospects for the 2015 draft. Here’s a quick preview of who to watch in Wednesday’s bowl action with an eye toward the 2015 draft.
Lions lose second junior to draft … Penn State junior DE Deion Barnes has announced he will be forgoing his final year of eligibility to enter the 2015 draft. The 6-4, 255-pound Barnes, who has 14 career sacks including 6 this past season, is a third-day prospect for the upcoming draft. Yesterday Penn State announced that junior OT Donovan Donovan Smith would also also be skipping his final year of eligibility.
Miller on the move … maybe … Rumors that injured Ohio State QB Braxton Miller could look to transfer after the college playoffs continue to percolate. Miller was a Heisman Trophy candidate entering the season, but was lost for the duration early this season with a shoulder injury and if he returns to Ohio State next fall will end up in a battle for playing time with emerging young stars J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones. In fact, with Florida State QB Jameis Winston likely off to the NFL after the playoffs, there are some rumblings that one option for Miller would be to join the Seminoles for his senior campaign next fall.
