Titans kick off smoke and mirrors season … After a week off to recharge the batteries following the Super Bowl, most NFL personnel departments are back at work this week putting the final touches on their preliminary draft boards in preparation for next week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. And that pretty much signals the start of the NFL’s ‘smoke and mirrors’ season in which nobody of importance around the league says much of anything that isn’t designed to advance their draft agenda. Tennessee G.M. Jon Robinson may have gotten the ball rolling by revealing that he’s already heard from at least a couple of teams interested in trading up for the #1 overall pick at this year’s draft. The Titans had earlier made it pretty clear that the top pick this year was for sale, particularly to any team that wanted to jump ahead of Cleveland to get their choice of this year’s top QB prospects.
