AA CB Bishop runs well at Big 12 pro day

AA CB Bishop runs well at Big 12 pro day … Through the first two days plus there really hasn’t been much coming out of the combined Big XII conference pro day – or I guess more appropriately pro weekend – to get excited about. However, West Virginia CB Beanie Bishop did make something of a statement earlier today. Despite making several all-America teams after picking off 4 passes and leading the country with 24 total pass breakups last fall, Bishop still wasn’t invited to the combine, but made up for lost time today when he posted a 4.39 40 clocking. Bishop, who is a little undersized at just 5-9, 180 also only had a 33.5-inch vertical, but did have some competitive times in the shuttle tests. On the other hand, Iowa State’s TJ Tampa, who was thought to be a rising second day CB prospect, did not run as well as hoped as he was only able to clock a somewhat pedestrian 4.57 40. TCU S Mark Perry also ran in the 4.40 range, although as a one-time member of the Colorado sprint time with a 100M PB of 10.65 seconds, that was kind of expected; plus while he did have 130 o so tackles the past couple of seasons at TCU he also had zero impact plays. Still, that speed might get him a free agent tryout as a potential special teamer. The Big XII pro event runs thru tomorrow.
