Illini DT Newton, OT Pearl sit out pro day … The first week of the annul pro day circuit wound up yesterday with Illinois holding its workout. Unfortunately, though, though, star Illini DT Johnny Newton, a first-round prospect for the upcoming draft, was not able to participate as he continues to rehab from post-season surgery to repair a fractured foot. Same story for OT Julian Pearl, who has been sidelined with a lower leg injury, as he was also was not able to participate in the workout. Both are hoping to be able to work out for pro scouts at a private pro day sometime before the draft in April.
